“We will offer a lot of information to producers looking to maximize input dollars,” said Ryan Collett, Stiles Farm manager. “Every producer is mindful of input costs, and we hope to offer something for everyone with production tips plus a look at some alternative crops that may become a fit for our area.”

The field day will begin with registration at 4:30 p.m. and field tours at 5:30 p.m. with the following speakers, topics:
• Marcel Kringe, CEO of Bushel Plus, Do I Know How Much Money I am Throwing Out the Back of the Combine?
• Calvin Trostle, Ph.D., Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agronomist, Lubbock, Potential for Fiber Hemp Production in the Blacklands-Lessons Learned.
• Alison Pokrzywinski, Nuseed agronomist, Growing Jet Fuel, Carinata Agronomy and Marketing Basics.
• Scott Nolte, AgriLife Extension state weed specialist, Bryan-College Station, “New Pasture Weed Control Product Demonstration and Evaluation.”
• Jacquelyn Prestegaard, AgriLife Extension livestock specialist, An In-Depth Look at Cattle Stocking Rate Management Decisions: How To Prepare For and Recover from Drought.
• Ronnie Schnell, AgriLife Extension agronomist, Late Nitrogen Management in Corn, Potential of Soybeans in the Blacklands.
• David Kerns, AgriLife Extension state integrated pest management coordinator, Planning for Hessian Fly in Wheat and Other Emergent IPM Issues in cotton and grain.

A catered dinner will follow the field tour along with a grain market/risk management update with Jason Johnson, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension economist.

Scholarships and Williamson County Agriculturist of the Year awards will follow. Door prizes will also be awarded, and the field day will adjourn at 8:15 p.m.
