Our 3rd Annual Winter Cereals Field Day is a special opportunity for our producers to view the latest crop breeding efforts from both Texas A&M and Industry. This year our College Station Specialists are showcasing both hard red and soft red winter wheat varieties, and the latest advances in winter oat breeding.
The most serious production problem so far this winter has been a widespread infestation of the Hessian Fly. Our Extension Blacklands IPM specialist will discuss the extent of the Hessian fly problem and management options available to you. A special demo plot has been developed to highlight the use of insecticide seed treatments to supplement variety resistance.
